The judges are deliberating and the vote is nearing conclusion.
It has been a fantastic day and we were lucky enough to sit in among three pitches, where we got a chance to listen to some of the diverse and fascinating ideas this year.
Ideas I heard included: an architectural shoot system that helps sort household recyclables, taking them directly from your house/corporate office to the rubbish sorting bin. Another idea was a fun summer project aimed at children and parents, including competitions, stickers, and awards. All of these ideas were fresh and exciting and it was great to see stage two students engaging with real problems that are currently unsolved.
As we wait for a result alumni from previous years are describing their time at the English Department at Newcastle University.
It’s inspiring and interesting to see the variety of jobs and careers available to students with an English degree and refreshing that teaching is not the only option.
