Interested in a placement year? Need more advice?
This year, the careers service are introducing a new scheme for students from various schools to get a placement. Placements are a great opportunity to get work after university. They take place between the second and third year of study and they’ll help you gain valuable experience. It even gets included on to your degree title so you’ll be not just English graduate, you’ll be English graduate (with placement year).
The statistics show that people who do a placement year are more likely to come out with a 2:1 or a 1st. That was 100% of Business School graduates who gradated last year.
If none of that entices you, you’ll most likely be paid. Sounds good to me.
Between 11am and 1pm third year English Literature student and Brand Ambassador for the Careers service, Rachel, will be around with some info.
If you’re interested now’s the time to get going. Placements are already being advertised, and with some info from Rachel on Thursday you should have everything you need to get started.
If you cant make it on Thursday, there’s some more info here;
